Langford, BC – January 24, 2026 — The Westshore Wolves proudly hosted their first-ever Pink in the Rink event on Saturday night at JDF Arena, uniting players, families, fans, and community partners in support of Victoria Hospice. The evening was a tremendous success, raising approximately $8,300 for the organization through a combination of cash donations, a silent auction, a jersey auction, and the 50/50 draw.
The special night was made possible thanks to the overwhelming support of the local community and the Wolves’ primary sponsor, Big Wheel Burger, who generously donated the custom pink game jerseys worn by the team. The jerseys were auctioned off following the game, with all proceeds going directly to Victoria Hospice.
In addition to the jersey auction, fans participated in a well-supported silent auction featuring donated items from a wide range of local businesses, including Thetis Lake Massage, Country Grocer, Goldstream Bicycles, Malahat SkyWalk, Tropos Fitness, Frankie’s Modern Diner, F45 Training, Market on Yates, Sandsmark Gallery, Save-On-Foods, Club Phoenix, Tall Tree Health, Chateau Victoria, and Elements. Their generosity played a key role in the event’s success.
The Wolves were also honoured to welcome Carley Gibson and the Victoria Hospice team, who were on site to share information about the essential end-of-life care and grief support services they provide to families across Greater Victoria. The evening included a ceremonial puck drop featuring Gibson alongside Wolves Director of Hockey Operations Ian Birnie, marking a meaningful moment before the game began.
While the Wolves may not have ended the night with a win on the scoreboard, the organization considers the evening a huge victory for the community.
“This event truly showed what can happen when a community comes together,” said the Westshore Wolves organization. “The support from our players, families, fans, sponsors, and partners was incredible, and we are extremely proud to support the vital work of Victoria Hospice.”
The Wolves would also like to extend a sincere thank you to the Peninsula Panthers organization and their fans for contributing to the spirit of the night by wearing pink and supporting the cause.
The Westshore Wolves extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who donated, bid, volunteered, attended, and helped turn the rink pink. The success of this inaugural Pink in the Rink event highlights the strength, compassion, and generosity of the Westshore hockey community—and sets the stage for future events in support of meaningful causes.
