Wolves hire former BCHL Head Coach Derek Sweet-Coulter

The Westshore Wolves are excited to announce Derek Sweet-Coulter has been named the team’s Head Coach and General Manager effective immediately.

Sweet-Coulter, a native of Victoria, BC is returning to his roots for at least the next two seasons as the bench boss of the Wolves. Prior to accepting this Sweet-Coulter was the Head Coach and General Manager of the BCHL’s Merritt Centennials for two seasons. He also spent four seasons with the Red Lake Miners in the SIJHL. During that time he also spent four years with Team Canada West as a guest coach followed by Assistant Coach in 2017 and 2018 at the World Junior A Challenge.

“I’m very excited to come back home to Vancouver Island and become part of a great league in the VIJHL and the Westshore Wolves organization.” said Wolves new head coach Derek Sweet-Coulter “The group have been extremely professional throughout this process and the vision for the Wolves program aligns directly with my core values and beliefs, which was the main contributing factor in becoming a part of the Wolves organization. I am humbled by the respect, appreciation, patience, and support that was shown by the organization through the hiring process. I look forward to building new relationships and working together with the entire Wolves group.”
